Use one of these four ideas to make money from your skills. Yes - You do have a skill!
Let's define the word "job" as a means to make money. If you think of it that way then a world of possibilities will open up. Now with that said ways to make money are easy to come by. It is all about gathering up the nerve to take an idea and put it into action. What do you know how to do? The best way to make money is by taking a skill or something you are passionate about (like a hobby) and taking one of the following steps: Teach it Take your skill and teach it to someone else. Pretty simple. Here is an example. My beautician-slash-hair braider wanted another way to make some cash. As a braider her technique allows her to finish in half the time other braiders do. The style she braids is unique as well and is a great money earner. I told her to set up some tables in her home studio, put an ad in the paper advertising an easy way to make money doing hair, and hold classes once a week teaching her technique. Easily an ambitious student could make $1000 a day. Or as I also mentioned to her – record a How-To video and sell it on the Internet. Classes to teach anything could be held in low-cost to upscale environments. Places to hold Classes: · Community or recreation centers
People will pay to learn a new skill that will benefit their life! Talk about it Do you have a unique experience that you learned from? Have you ever had to do tons of research to help with a troubling life situation? Did you find an outstanding solution to a problem other people share? Did you learn methods on how to cope with a life altering problem? To share techniques, information and tips about something you've learned does not even require a 'skill'. (But if you do have a skill – that's fab too.) Go out and talk about what you know. Share your experiences with others. People want and need to learn how to cope with issues going on in their lives. And those issues range from how to market a business to how to raise a great kid. Lectures on topics can be held almost anywhere. (See the list of places to hold classes above) Does the idea of speaking in front of a large audience scare you? Instead speak to small groups or provide one to one consultations. Here are some examples of seminar or class worthy topics – coping with a seriously ill child, getting into college, ways to discipline a child without hitting, how to protect your child from internet predators, how to get into medical school, how to get through a divorce, dating after 40, how to save money planning a wedding, how to handle going through probate after a parent's death, how to cope with a relative who is an alcoholic, how to train your dog in 48 hrs . . . – the list can go on and on. Can you come up with some ideas? Folks will pay you to learn about how you did or do something well! Write about it Take what you know and put it into print! Now don't go all freaky on me think that publishing a book is hard. It is so not. (Well if you are thinking getting published by Random House – yeah that may be tricky) I'm thinking making your own E-book and putting up for sale on the net. - Yes it is doable. - Yes it is easy. E-book (in case you don't know) stands for Electronic Book. It is a book you can buy on the internet that is either downloaded or sent to you via email. When opened it looks similar to a microsoft word document – but nicer hopefully. Once you have the book, it may be printed or read on-screen. Or if this is a must – there are self-publishing businesses like I-Universe.com that will help put your words into print. In either format – your work can be sold online. Folks will pay for knowledge! Do it for others Do you have a skill that people would buy because they are too tired, busy, lazy, or unknowledgeable? Perform a job or duty that others don't want to do. The opportunities are endless. You can clean house, balance a checkbook, do taxes, cook meals, do yard work, file, make phone calls, arrange appointments, organize an office, clean out closets, walk dogs, water plants, vacuum office carpets at night, clean windows, write copy, pick up/drop off for the dry cleaner etc.. Go out and sell yourself! OK, not like streetwalker sell yourself – put your skills up for sale. And don't sell yourself cheap. People will pay for things that will make their life easier! You absolutely can design a "job" for yourself. Remember that 'job' just means a way to bring in cash. Sharing your personal experiences or skills can bring genuine value to others. Add determination plus a desire to generate an income will allow you to create the perfect stay at home job. ----------------------------------------------------------------- |
