2008 is a milestone year for me: It marks my tenth year of publishing 2Work-At-Home.com. It's really hard to believe that it's been a whole decade since I was a stay at home mom desperate to find a work at home job. Since I never did find the perfect work at home job, I made my own. Sometimes you have to think "outside the nine dots" and open yourself up to new ideas in order to be successful.

I hope this will be a great year for you and that one way or the other, you find the success that you're looking for.

Like so many moms in today’s two-income world, I always envied those moms who were able work at home with their children. My first child was born while I was in college so that wasn’t an option early on. Once I had my second child, I knew that I wanted to be home so I wouldn’t miss all the important things with him that I missed with my daughter. When I held that sweet little baby boy in my arms for the first time, nothing else mattered but staying home with him. All of the dreams and aspirations for my career became so meaningless and empty. This tiny little person needed me for everything. Why would I ever want to leave the cocoon of my little world? Why would I ever need anything but what I have here at home?

   Working at home with kids is a great way to balance parenting with a career but it can also bring a host of challenges. What is the best age for your children to be when you start your business? Every stage of childhood brings its own nuances so it’s important to think this through so that your decision is reasonably well informed.
4. Finding Work at Home Jobs When You're Desperate
   I hear from moms desperate to work at home pretty regularly. Sometimes they badly need a job so that they can continue to support their families. They want to know how to get a fast start working at home.

   The first thing I always tell such people is that if you cannot support your family, get a job. Any job that will pay enough, even if it's outside the home. You may have to struggle and figure out who can watch the kids while you work, but do what you must to support your family. Finding a work at home job should be secondary to finding a way to support your family.

   I also tell them the simple truth. It takes most people a long time to find legitimate work at home that is sufficient to support a family. It's just tough out there.
