Yes, I have always been interested also. Our dollar store has amazing layouts and stuff for scrapbooking. Every time I go in I stop in the aisle and look and think I should start but never do.....one day!

I know you guys posted this thread a while ago, so I hope you're still checking in here....I scrapbook, A LOT!! I used to be a Creative Memories consultant, which sells supplies and teaches how to scrapbook. Now I do it just for fun. My advice to you is...keep it simple!! If you are just starting out, it is easy to give up, thinking you aren't creative enough. But anyone can scrapbook. It's all about getting your pictures in an album and writing down what's important about them! The rest is just extra-stickers, embellishments, etc.

The supplies you use are ultra important-they must be safe for your pictures. Acid free, archival quality, lignen free-these are some of the words you want to look for when choosing products. I know from experience that Creative Memories products are all safe, but you can also find good quality items at Walmart, craft stores, etc.

If you're overwhelmed by the amount of pictures-try organizing them first. You can do this by dates, special days(ie. holidays, birthdays), family members-whatever works for you. Get rid of yucky photos, which I know can be extremely hard to do sometimes! Put only the best in your albums. Crop them if you like(cut them so the important parts of the picture are the focus) and arrange them in a pleasing way. Then journal about the pics. This can be short, to the point descriptions(include who and when if able) or long narratives-your choice.

I have been able to complete several family albums by doing this: I use calendar pages(I get blank calendar pages through Creative Memories) and to a double page spread for each month. On one page is the calendar grid, which I fill with special dates for the month, other family happenings, etc. I also put small extra pics on this page. On the other side I plut a layout of pics from that month. If I have a lot of pics for a month(such as December), I'll put an extra page in between for more pics. This is pretty quick for me. No fancy layouts, just pics, journaling and a few stickers.

Hope all this info helps you guys. Feel free to let me know other questions-I love talking scrapbooking!

Hi Michelle,

Those are some great tips! I love scrapbooking and need to find the time to get back into it. It's one of those things that I keep saying I'm going to do and time just keeps slipping by.

It is hard to get rid of the bad photos...I'm sure we all have them ;) That's one thing I love about digital cameras, you can delete them if they don't come out well.

How do you find the time to scrapbook? I have always wanted to make scrapbooks for my family but do not know when I would be able to do it. Where should I start? Anyone tried digital scrapbooking? How does it compare?

handmade scrapbook is much better i guess... why not make it on sundays? After church... you can ask for the whole family to do it, (more exciting)... Two heads are better than one and of course the more the merrier!!! give the whole family a time to get together with a kind of activity such as this... So when it gets done, you're every little part of the scrapbook, the pics, the designs, the cover etc. has its own story to tell...

I also think about getting into scrapbooking. It seems like I don't have much time after I do a little work on the computer, fill my Diaper Cake orders, fill my baking orders, and make dinner. Plus, my son is into everything.

I'd love to be able to scrapbook. I still have my wedding pictures to album. I sort of did a scrapbook type deal with my sons pictures through Shutterfly. That was neat and I love the book. But I'd love to put something together for him that I can pass onto him when he gets older. More like a visual baby book, but through all his stages.

I seem to go through phases where I'll be really into it (and so I find I can make the time) or I'm just not motivated (and so I just don't seem to have the time) lol!

I use to do Creative Memories only for the discounted product. I have so much stuff, but no time to do it. I have several books on my four year old daughter. None on my poor 16 month old son. One day I will get to it.

I can't leave my stuff out either my little ones would wallpaper my house with it :)
