I am sick and tired of joining a Network Marketing company or reading the sales pages for a MLM and being told all I have to do to find success in the company is contact my friends and family.

I will tell you right now that if your upline or sponsor tells you this turn around and remove yourself from that program right away.

Why?

Because growing your network marketing business by contacting your "friends and family" does not work!

This kind of teaching gives networking quite a bad reputation, and because of the level of rejection people receive from their friends and family who don't want to join because they don't understand the program often leads to very low retention rates of new MLM distributors.

Improved MLM training and use of network marketing lead lists has helped to change that reputation somewhat, although many "old school" networkers will still insist that the new network marketer they are training makes a long list of their friends whom they can pitch. I will say it again:

If your sponsor or upline suggest you contact your friends and family ignore them!

The internet has allowed people to stop pestering friends and family and to focus on connecting with people who are looking to join. These people don't need to be convinced to join and thus using the power of the internet to grow your downline is far more successful than pestering your friends and family.

When joining a network marketing program or MLM make sure to look for training from the company or your upline on how to use the internet to generate a list of leads interested in what you are selling. Once you learn that you can succeed at any MLM program.

I think that family/friends can be the easiest way to get started BUT I don't require it of anyone! I ask how THEY want to grow their business and I train from there! Just my way of doing things:)

I am not a fan of contacting friends and family, but I know that to build my business quicker, I have to believe in my company and their products. And if I believe in them , then I should be able to approach family and friends and tell them about my business. I don't push anyone to enroll as a customer, ever, but I give them the information and let them decide. If my team/company insisted I do this, I wouldn't stick with them. With my business, it is all my choice.

This is so true...instead of "selling" you are just sharing your excitement over something that you really think is terrific and would help them.

I think contacting your friends and family is a very weak way of building any MLM business, because contacting friends and family can lead to you never doing anything with your MLM business. Let me explain in life your friends and family are probable the people that have the must influence on you. So lets say you go to your Dad and your all excited about this great new Business (and this is a man that you have a great deal of respect for) and he just crushes you and your whole business concept you may never talk to anyone else about your business, this happens to lots of people that get into MLM or a similar scenario. Also the fear of something like this happening make keep new recruits from ever talking to anyone they know.

The question is how do you get your friends, Family and people you don’t even know asking you about your business, well the truth is the old way of Marketing your MLM Company is almost gone.

The new way of marketing your MLM Business online gets people calling you wanting to join your business. No rejection from your friends and family, what’s funning is after your friends and family see you working your business and getting results they ask you about what you are doing (the law of attraction in action)

He's gone. I've stopped giving infractions and now just ruthlessly ban these people. There seems to be no end to them unfortunately, though.

Yeah i agree the worst thing anyone can tell you is to run out and try to recruit your friends and family. When I was younger I tried Amway and that's what they pushed VERY HARD.I think it's probably like Dave Ramsey says that these people (family anyway)some of them changed your diaper and so when you tell them you have this "great opportunity" they are like okay sure.I've found that if you are just successful without them and they see it they will ask you how they can do what you are doing. But you just have to remember they are NOT LEADS they ARE FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

you know if it wasnt for the last decades billion scams making money online would be so much easier and people wouldnt have to resort to inviting family or friends,

I have to go against the grain on this one a little. I agree they push the Idea too soon though!
What I see is a lack of education in this business creates the outcome we recieve. So many of us get pulled into these meetings, the presenters excite a part of us (the ability to dream BIG) lost over time. Example: When we would dream of being an astronaut and end up working for mcdonalds instead. We simply stop believe in our dreams.

So OK! We get pulled into one of these meetings They excite that dreamy part of us thats been dead for so long. We spend the money, Jump in all excited, and feeling Just GREAT! We go home and 2 days later the excitements gone...... WOW! OK I'm gonna make this work, with no knowledge of the business, struggle, get angry, and quit. Happens far too often and it's the fault of many.

I've been in this business for 7 month's now with no preveous experience.
Yes they said call your family and friends first cause you want them to be successful too! Well I called friends and signed some up. Lost some friends because of it. Didn't understand why this happened?

I chose to stop sponsoring and got some MLM training cds. Studied the business in great detail. Still have alot to learn. I will say I now do want to sponsor family and friends BIGTIME!

There's 3 Business models I understand at this time.

1) Big business model- This is done by using the art of duplication in your sponsorship training and creating great wealth doing so. 2-4 years to becoming wealthy

2) Small business model- Concentrating on the product sales and the occasional sponorship because someone likes the product enough that they decide they want to make a few extra bucks. Up to and greater then 10 years to gain a residual income with little training needed.

3) No business model- no business being in one because you would rather watch TV than do anything else.:D

When we understand some basics in succesfully Building a team or downline. Our financial success will fallow. There is a alot more to this and I'm out of time so just remmember, If you educate yourself a bit you should see things differently. Wish I had more time to explain the big biz model. sorry:)

Good Luck, Willy
