AdSense announced new advertising called interest-based advertising for publishers. What this is, it allows advertisers to show ads based on the user's interests. So if the user were looking at dogs, when they come to your website, ads for dogs will appear.
It doesn't quite make sense to me to have dog ads on a niche websites. I think it would be detrimental to high-paying click rate niche sites.
What are your thoughts on this?
Are you going to allow this or not?
Do you think this is too intrusive for your site's visitors?

You know, I have to admit that I hadn't really thought this through. If it would indeed be as your example I agree that it would be weird. It would also mean that they would be more likely to leave my site to something completely unrelated.
Hmm...are you disallowing them Sophia?

I'm undecided at this point. I'm going to have to learn more about this. I certainly don't want someone previously looking at adult content, come to my site and have adult content ads on my site. It's too unrelated.
I still need to weigh out the pros and cons.

Sophia,
You bring up some very valid points. I personally wouldn't like it.
I don't want to see dog ads on non dog related sites and/or forums. That makes no sense to me!
So...how's the weather?

LOL @ Shelly. The weather is beautiful today, but still chilly. :)
It will be in beta so that means it will only affect some people and then the full launch will happen later in 2009. If you're not part of that group, not sure how you would know or not, but there's still time to think about it and read feedback from the people who are participating in it.
Two things to consider is how well you are doing with AdSense now and how intrusive you think interest-based advertising is.

Sorry I am just getting over here Sophia to answer your comments, I just finished up an article about walking dogs rofl!!!!!
I guess that is why I really don't mess with any of that type of advertising. My webmaster has 2 google adsense ads on my forum...but I let her have them there so that she gives me a bargain price on my forum hosting. I told her it would be fine as long as they are small and not offensive to me or my forum board members.

Rofl about the dog article.
I was going to ask you about your AdSense ads on your forum which I found out now that they aren't yours, but with that said and although Google doesn't know whether it's yours or not you are required to have a privacy policy in place wherever AdSense is displayed. If you need help with the policy, let me know and I'll lend you a hand. :)

I don't like it. It's an invasion of privacy in my opinion.
