My favorites are all free advertising methods like posting useful comments on relevant blogs, forums posting, social bookmarking, website optimization, on and off-site SEO like non-reciprocal inbound links building, for long term result.

What are yours?

Those are all great methods. I'll add to the list article writing. It's viral and it can help to establish you as an expert in your field.

Tell everyone you know what you're up to. I mean everyone!

When I started in late 2006, I emailed lots of friends to let them know what I was doing and asked them if they knew anyone who might be interested in my services. It took some time but over a few months I built up a healthy client base. Referrals are still 90% of my client base, with the other 10% from Craigslist. My Craigslist marketing consists of only responding to ads where I'm confident I'll add value and can really help the person.

I also use social networking sites like LinkedIn. Just make sure you don't do anything spammy

A lot of what I do revolves around writing....articles, blogging, forums and classified ads.

I'm fairly new to blogging and just came across a great video tutorial (http://www.jackhumphrey.com/fridaytrafficreport/blog-marketing-videos/how-to-do-a-trackback-to-get-more-links-and-traffic/) on how to use trackbacks to drive traffic to your blog. It's an easy thing to do and it can be addictive too!

My favourite marketing method is to take all of the above mentioned methods and combine them and automate them using the tools of the trade.

Quick example

set up a Twitter account
Set up a Facebook account
Set up a Wordpress blog
Write an article and post it on EzineArticles.com.
Take the RSS feed for your articles and set up a twitterfeed.com account
Install a Twitter application on Facebook so your Twitter posts update your Facebook status automatically
Install a Wordpress Plugin that takes your Twitter post and posts it on your blog

Then what happens is this

you write an article and post it on ezinearticles.com, the article gets published and automatcially your Twitter, Facebook and blog get updated. Those that follow you will see this posting and click on the link to your article. They will read your article and then click the link in your article resource box that goes to your website or affiliate link.

Automatic free traffic from several sources by publishing one article! I love it!

As a new internet marketer who has been diving into numerous online resources I would agree with the posts to date and would also include driving traffic to your website using free services. I am not sure if it is permissible to name services in postings, so I will not name any ones specifically, but if you do a google search you can find several. They work on the basis of opening a free account and clicking on others ads to earn credits. The credits are then used as currency to place ads for your site.

While surfing other sites to earn credits for my advertising, I have also come across great resources, along with complementary businesses for links and affiliate marketing opportunities.

Finally I would add that it is imperative to have ad tracking software for all the tactics previously mentioned to make sure you monitor what is working and driving the most traffic and sales to your site and what is not. Then you can do more of what works and obvioulsly less of what does not :)

Hope you found these insights helpful.

I like to focus on both online and offline advertising. Online...I think everyone here has covered all my techniques. Offline...my company Lotto Magic provides professionally designed postcards and high quality mailing lists.
Way to go!

For doing business online, you need proven internet marketing methods to maximize your results. Some of proven marketing methods are

Follow up: The best way to do this is to collect the name and email address of as many visitors as possible and then try to sell your products to them.

Provide useful content on website: You must give them useful content in the form of articles that will help them and build trust. Be as original with the content as possible.
