Hi, my name is Bethany. I was born in Foley, Alabama and grew up in Gulf Shores, Alabama...which are located as south as you can get in Alabama. I was always at the beach swimming or out in the ocean on a boat, or if I wasn't there, I was in a swimming pool somewhere. Other than go to school when I was little, I swam ALOT. Hurricane Ivan hit Gulf Shores in 2004. Alot of buildings and an amusement park that I always went to growing up were blown away by Ivan, and were never replaced. Since then, it's not been the same to me. It's like everything in Gulf Shores that I loved as a child was gone when Ivan hit. The beaches to this day are still somewhat different. Like they have been rearranged from the hurricane. Its really sad to see, for me and probably others who grew up in Gulf Shores and knew how the city was before it was destroyed by Hurricane Ivan.
Well, in May 2009 I moved from the very south of Alabama to the very north of Alabama near Huntsville. What a change.
