I started a dropship website earlier this year. In the first month it took in $5000. The profit margins vary in drop ship and this one is only around 20% but that is still good for the few minutes a day it takes to run.
For those not familiar with drop ship, it is everywhere, even big companies do it, you just don't know it. Simply put, you do not stock anything. The customer buys from you and you turn around and send the order to the supplier. You keep the difference in what you get from the customer and the discounted price you pay the supplier. You don't need money because you get paid first, them pay the supplier.
No matter what kind of site you have, you need traffic. One good tool to use before even starting a site is Market Samurai. (You can get a free trial and do a lot of research without buying it. You can worry about buying it if you need to after you start making money.) You can find out what markets and keywords you can compete in and where to focus for google ranking.
