View Full Version : Are You A Network Marketing 'Guru'?

The internet has made it easier for entrepreneurs to start a business indeed, but that does not mean there isn't work to be done, quite the contrary. An online business implies a lot of work and time. Those network marketer 'gurus' are fast to showing you a big commission check implying that all happened within a few days. What they don't disclose is the amount of money they've spent on advertising, setting up their site and the time and effort involved on building their long list of leads. If they were honest disclosing what's behind their 'secrets', it will be very hard for them to sell anything.

Absolutely true, Javier. I started out in Network Marketing and worked really hard for about a year just to earn enough to start 2Work-At-Home.com. It was a company selling educational cd's for kids. I think a lot of people don't put enough thought into what it is they're going to be selling. It's so important that it be something that you truly believe in don't you think?

That's right. Usually people think of a good business to start in terms of what's hot in the market right now, then it fails due to lack of clients when the flames subside. But the right approach would be: To do what one knows how, what one likes or loves to, evaluate the resources one has, and you must be convinced that the business is a good business to start with; also you must have a burning desire to reach your goals once you start that business of yours.
Since the dawn of Internet marketing, the so called 'Gurus' have misled people with their long one page sales site offering you their "big secret manual to success", usually for $39 or $67, into thinking that the earnings they've achieved - many instances fabricated - are the result of an almost effortless activity. What they do not disclose is that the origin of their revenue, and the amount shown as prove, comes from selling those silly and useless pamphlets to inexperienced beginners, desperately looking for a way to earn some bucks online. It is a shame!

There is no such thing as overnight success. I agree with Javier that the sales pages are quick to point out the big checks - like John Reese making $1 million in one day. But what is often not told is the year or more of hard work to get to that point.
What we have to remember is that working at home is no different than anything else in life - nothing comes for free you have to put something in to get it - either time, money, effort, blood, sweat, tears or all of the above. Bit those willing to put those in will see the million dollar day..... and I bet that is the day they will talk about and not those days slugging it out.

The sad part is that with so many newbies coming to the Internet for quick fortunes every day, those "Gurus" can have an endless supply of fresh meat to increase their bank account balances even more. :(

Sad but true - but there is only so long that a person can do this before their name is associated with scams and upset clients. And with Web 2.0 the way it is going this timeframe is getting shorter and shorter.

I personally think that there is no such thing as Guru.
It is just a phrase for those who have been successfully in their network marketing.
But all this came down to their hard work and effort they have put in to make their business successfully.

You're right Javier, most people don't understand what a REAL guru is!
It's certainly NOT someone who built a fortune overnight because nobody ever has.
Let me repeat myself - NOBODY IN THE HISTORY OF MANKIND HAS EVER BUILT A FORTUNE OVERNIGHT, HA, HA!
If anyone tries to convince you otherwise run away as fast as you can because you're talkin to a liar!
I use to pick up trash for a living and built my network marketing business to over a six-figure residual income. I won most of the company awards including "Top Producer".
I ended up traveling all over the U.S. training people in how to be successful. My specialty was generating leads on AND off the internet. (success really is all a numbers game)
At one point I made my annual residual income raise by over $20,000 within a 30 day period!
I ended up being featured in home business success magazines.
My story above sounds great and it is! But the rest of the story is this:
It took me a little over 4 years to build that much momenteum!
To last that long takes dedication, hard work, and persistence ................... and THAT take a big "WHY?" to "Stay In The Game" long enough.
But I CAN say it was ALL worth it!
I haven't worked my company business in about 3 years but the check keeps coming in every month!
What I do now is what I enjoy the most.
Training other people.
Other people THINK I'm a "Guru", but I really just worked harder than they did!
It's funny how hard the "Gurus" had to work, ha, ha.

Great post, Gary.
It's funny how people see and hear what they are desperate to see and hear....they see the income claims, the screenshots of checks and such and that's all they see.
Many people don't acknowledge the fact that yes, people do make money in Network Marketing, some people make lots of it, but what they all have in common is the planning, hard work and persistence that went into it beforehand.
Once you let go of the idea of ever getting rich overnight, you can open yourself up to real possibilities with a legitimate company as long as you're willing to put in the time and effort. Otherwise, you continue to bang your head against a wall and lose money in the process--then blame the company when it was really all about unrealistic expectations. This is why you see so much negative feedback against almost every MLM company on the planet.
